If certain shoes cause pressure on your feet or you have discomfort near your big toe, you may have a bunion. A bunion is best described as an enlargement of the bone or tissue around the joint near the base of your big toe. Bunions at the base of the big toe usually begin when the big toe starts moving toward the smaller toes. The movement of the joint in this outward direction starts the formation of a bunion. Bunions are primarily due to heredity and may be corrected through surgical intervention.

If you have a bunion, you may qualify for a research study involving the surgical removal of your bunion and the use of investigational pain medication. All surgeries are performed by board-certified podiatric surgeons at no cost to you. Following your bunion removal surgery, you will be carefully monitored by our experienced medical research staff and the podiatric surgeon to make sure that your foot is healing properly as well as to ensure your safety and comfort.
The studies usually last about 2-6 weeks with 2-4 scheduled visits at one of our clinic locations over that time plus an appointment with the podiatric surgeon at their office to obtain x-rays. If you are interested in participating in one of our bunion studies and you meet the criteria listed below, please call us for a no cost screening and evaluation, or
